haha, its so nice to see cenk evolving over his videos... i remember him standing there talking like a robot while listing features of the different machines and then saying "and i'm going to show this to you now" as he presented the versatility of the machines he was working on without even noticing how he left people like me astonished and thrilled by the possibilities... well, job done quite perfectly, i'm a heavy elektron user by now :)
got a brain buster for ya'll, just made a 64 step bassline via midi.. how can i link the same riff but have transpose up after it plays round once and then they loop from 1 transpose to another ?
I can not trigger a chord playing the Midi Buttons. The chords work when recorded in a sequence, but not when triggered manually. Anyone know how to fix this?
yeah, everything we love actually ;-) Not new for us Elektron users, but a great overview for people not knowing our beloved Instruments. That Video Part killed me man! :D Never thought about such application. Really great idea, need to find out if this is possible with a regular Computer too. Thanks for that hint - GREAT idea !!! .-)
How does Cenk map out the OP-1 midi out to the digitakt like that? i have the kenton usb host but cant figure out how he got those chords recorded in live mode! thats a game changer for me!
Would you know how I could link both my 0 coast and neutron separately with midi? As I have a beatstep pro controlling both at the moment but want to eliminate the beatstep pro and have the digitakt to be the main controller for both synths. All the best
Nice! One problem for me though. Each MIDI track is limited to 4 notes per track. For Deep House and Contemporary Jazz, I need something that can handle 9th chords. If you guys at Elektron are able, please upgrade the MIDI note count per track to 6. After thinking about it more, if 2 or more of the MIDI tracks are set to the same MIDI channel, does the MIDI note count bleed over to the other tracks? Example.....I set MIDI tracks 1 and 2 to MIDI Channel 1 so that I have 8 notes of polyphony on MIDI Channel 1.
A Nord Lead 4 can handle the load (5 notes per part with 4 parts.). As long as the Digitakt is able to handle 9th chords in some way, I'll pick one up.
I tried it with Roland synth , but midi loops happened , then change the Roland to Local off ,but no Roland synth hear now .I would like to know the setting detail.
The LFO on the toms & bong sound amazing! Great demo Cenk. Now i will definitely have buy myself a Digitakt to play with my Digitone! (polymetric stuff & video midi !)
This was the video that convinced me to get the Digitakt, and I haven't looked back. I've always wanted to ask, though - would you be willing to provide a link to the device that controls the physical drum "sticks?" I'd love to emulate that approach with some physical percussion instruments I have at home. Thanks again for the inspiring videos!
will it ever be possible to shift recorded midi notes all at once. like shifting all notes up/down a few notes or octaves? I don`t get it why this elementary function isn`t working, or am i just to stupid to find it. This would be my most wanted feature of a future update. Can`t see why this wouldn`t be possible.
You controlling the Digitakt via the OP-1. The OP-1 has no Standard-MIDI - Can the Digitakt get the MIDI via USB or are you using an external MIDI-Host solution?
So idk if im just stupid or what but like, how do you take a sequencer that only has 2 MIDI outs but it has 8 MIDI tracks? Would have been nice to see how everything is hooked up since i can't seem to find a single video explaining how people do that with this thing
J Michael B agreed this also baffled me, hoping someone can explain!? My best guess is a midi splitter with midi out from Digitakt to the individual synths, or chaining the synths with midi thru, each set to listen on a different channel for the Digitakt. I’d also like to know how as a user your know what parameters the cc effects on the hardware..maybe you just need to read the manual. Can’t wait to get my hands on one!
MIDI signals can control several instruments at once if you daisy-chain the instruments by using midi thru ports. Each instrument only listens to the channel it's set up for and ignores the others. (You can even hook up midi-thru from the last device in the chain to the midi in of the first one and send messages all the way around the loop.) Second, USB-MIDI is also very powerful and can connect a lot of instruments together, but I'm old and don't fully understand it. Now get off my lawn!
A single midi out port can send to 16 midi channels. That's the very basics of midi. So you either use a midi splitter that splits one output into multiple outputs, or you daisychain your machines (most gear has a midi thru port that outputs what comes in, so you can send it along to another machine)
Yeah, I was wondering that too. I did something like that in college with Ableton and Max for Live. But, I am not sure if he is just that straight into max, or something else.
It's about time you add a song mode or at least the possibility to save pattern chains. And where is live recording of retrigs? And how about the extra filter from Digitone?
Awesome video, Cenk. It really shows how versatile the Digitakt's sequencing can be. I got mine yesterday and have been having a lot of fun with it. That said, it feels a little disingenuous of Elektron to put this out while MIDI functionality is so unstable on the Digitakt. It's really crash-prone and that kind of sucks. I'm hoping we see a 1.04 update soon.
I'd like to know what you used for link more than one sinth. I'm asking you because I'd like. to don't waste time to understand by my self because as I learn, electron world it's a little different with my chain synths workflow, thank you
Nice way of explaining. Can you choose which midi channel is going through HEAT or all audio goes at the end through HEAT? In this setup what are you using as a mixer?
Is it possible to control multiple synths in Logic using the MIDI tracks? I tried assigning 1 2 etc. but I always only controls the active instrument track in Logic
That arm trick was dope!! What kind of midi interface are you using? I struggle with setting up midi interfaces without a computer which has kept me away from octatrack and now digitakt.
Can I make retro/synthwave with this or is it geared more towards modern styles? I'd like to bring in classic drum machine samples and run vintage synths with it.
Daaaamn. This thing is a monster. Regarding the video distortion events, does that work for any video feed, or does the Digitakt generate its own video for effects?
Sounds like some streets of rage or something from sega haha. I've never seen that thing before playing the bongos....if only I could get something like that to play my guitar/bass parts for me haha
Is there any way that Elektron could help in making a Digitakt sequence a Waldorf Blofeld? I've got both machines on the same MIDI channel, and there is no sound. Would be awesome if instead of a video showing the Digitakt doing multiple things via MIDI at once, Cenk boiled things down to their basics with the Digitakt controlling one synth. Just one.
To get multi layers of sound , he is using multiple instruments - hardware because he is in a studio and lots of gear is available. And it looks ''cooler'' - ( to coin a very stupid over used meaningless word) your Blofeld is multi timbral which means it can play lots of different sounds at once - 16 in theory. I have a Blofeld also. Therefore no need to use many different synths. There are lots of cheapo ''boutique'' synths available on the market but not many are multi-timbral , like the Blofeld , another example is the Virus ti series , 16 channels of midi if you want them but less trendy , older, expensive and not ''pure'' analogue in the nature of the sound producing method. Simply put , having a load of hardware synths around and all connected also falls into the trend these days of getting away from Daw vst's and the like and towards the ''hands on'' tactile nature of hardware knobs and sliders whilst making people lust after more gear as a side effect, otherwise known as G A S.
Anybody know of a possible "Easter Egg" to swap a MIDI track for gaining an additional sample audio track? Be nice to utilize those unused pads 9-16 for more complex pattern sequences. Example: ghost note on kick drum sample... KICK 1 (pad 1) / KICK 2 (pad 9) - Thanks for your help!
We have another midi track here which controls the rotation of the sun. As well as a midi track that connects to your heartbeat cc.

I love this guy. Best ambassador for elektron
Elektron are killing it, I want a digitakt!
I own only volca sample, but when I see Cenk, i couldn't resist watching this video
Now I've figured out how Cenk is so good on Elektron gear. He has 6 arms.
Herr Absurd hahaha!!!!
Thank you for all the videos you have done cenk! I own a digitakt, and have learned a lot!
versatile application of functions ... lots of converts...professional presentation by you, sir
got a brain buster for ya'll, just made a 64 step bassline via midi.. how can i link the same riff but have transpose up after it plays round once and then they loop from 1 transpose to another ?
The best demo. Thanks. I love Digi from today.
Fine Video
how to setup these gears to use digitakt as sequecing the OP-01without computer ?
Hi! Can you use the knobs as a MIDI controller (sending CC)? Thanks
yes, you have 8 assignable controlers for CC values. works great!
The sound of Abyss is amazing! :)
I can not trigger a chord playing the Midi Buttons. The chords work when recorded in a sequence, but not when triggered manually. Anyone know how to fix this?

Did you figure this out?
@@deekod1967 controller (op-1) midi out into digitakt midi in
amazing! what is that video app he controls via digitakt? at 4.30min
I'm assuming VDMX
Resolume or Modul8 also have midi in
Would you know how I could link both my 0 coast and neutron separately with midi? As I have a beatstep pro controlling both at the moment but want to eliminate the beatstep pro and have the digitakt to be the main controller for both synths.
All the best
You'll need a Midi thru box by Kenton or Midi Solutions
Retrigs for the MIDI tracks please.

Yerr nice work around.
Picked one up last week and I'm absolutely loving it. Great grooovebox!
Is it possible to play chords from the digitakt sequencer buttons? From the desktop synths like Virus etc that don’t have keyboard.
Yes it is possible. Check out this video for a demo of it: ruclips.net/video/JTnbtIK9lTg/видео.html
I tried it with Roland synth , but midi loops happened , then change the Roland to Local off ,but no Roland synth hear now .I would like to know the setting detail.
Never seen that from polyend .i like it!
Nice film color style)

"the bongs" may mean something different from what you think it means.
Robert Syrett I'm pretty sure he knows

What's the name of the bongo midi triggs on 1:05
Can I do the thing you do with the OP1 with the Prophet Rev2 in live recording mode ?
I'm not quite sure. Would you just launch OT mk3? Why all the bush around stuff?
how do i use instant recordings on midi with an external synth?
what's the midi thing that can beat automatically in the drums ?
Anyone figure this out yet? I am intrigued.
Nm it's called Perc Pro. And it's pricey... polyend.com/perc-pro-drumming-machine/
...1299 $ for a midi hammer. WTF????
Pero a ver, quién cojones le da dislike al calvo? Si es el amo, no jodas.
So does this mean that If I have the digitakt connected via overbdrige to Ableton I can use each midi track to play and sequence 8 polyphonic VSTs?
Hello, what about the MIDI bank changes? Is that possible to change not only patches on an outer synth but banks as well?
Dude , you are the master !!!
Thanks very informative as always. A question what video manipulation interface do you use??

I'd like to know what you used for link more than one sinth. I'm asking you because I'd like. to don't waste time to understand by my self because as I learn, electron world it's a little different with my chain synths workflow, thank you
Wait. What midi controlled mallets were those?
It's a polish company called polyend
Dumb question, if I wanted to sequence my vermona drm would I have to use one of the midi tracks for each instrument/voice played from the drm?
It depends on midi implementation in your device. Some machines require 1 midi track per each their track. Others need only one
Does midi over usb work yet? Trying to get my Arturia synths to work with this.
Hello! Do I need a converter box to play the op1 midi into the digitakt?

Thats nota right, ive purchased a digitakt, route MIDI to minova but doesnt play sequence. I can play synth but dont sequence it
Patch per step? Could I do the same with OT and a boutique?
What is the video effects processor that you are sending midi into??
Can the Digitakt send retrigs over midi?

Impressive!
Great stuff!
OMG I WANT SOOOO BAD, All the creative possibilities, this will end my laptop. END IIIIT!
Jason Brown use overbridge and Ableton
I mean, I won't need to use it ever again. It's going to be amazing.
Digitakt is the diet Octatrack. Now with the MkII there's no excuse.
get the OT if you really want to throw your laptop away
i think its different machines for different things
Just ordered one
Bit of a streets of rage vibe going with the track he was playing! Anyone know what he was using to interphase midi with video?
Can I make retro/synthwave with this or is it geared more towards modern styles? I'd like to bring in classic drum machine samples and run vintage synths with it.
Mind = Blown.

what is he using for the video? a device or computer program?
do you use the Kenton to run MIDI from Digitakt's MIDI out into other gears or ?
Kenton is good choice. I use diy midi splitter, it’s cheap, but i don’t have any specific requirements. Does the job, costs few bucks.
Sounds like some streets of rage or something from sega haha. I've never seen that thing before playing the bongos....if only I could get something like that to play my guitar/bass parts for me haha
oh yaaaa it does sound like the streets of rage, good spot yo

Wow thx can’t wait to try this with a micro freak
Pad 1 is sticking down when I press it. Anyone else have this problem?
This is the single feature which convinced me to sell my Analog Keys and buy a Digitakt. Absolutely amazing. Such a missed opportunity on the AK.
Loved the overview. Cenk I'm assuming you've got some USB midi interface between the OP-1 and Digitakt? 😃
brassmonkey yes, kenton usb midi hub giving midi in out to op1
Thanks :D
Omg, what are those bong things? Can I buy them?
Great video.
I need this guy shipped via fedex how much
Can I do all this on an octatrack or no?
Yes you can.
This machine is going to make me a god
Goddess.
Thank you 🙏🏻✌🏼
nice work
those patch switches
la digitakt es la mejor
still missing the arp
cooooool :) Digitakt is so sweet
Well that was cool!
That´s why I bought a Digitakt...:-)
Too bad the polyphony is limited to 4 notes. It is a deal breaker for me :(
put out a stable os and i will buy this. still a bit too buggy at this point
Os is stable but i still cant afford one :(
This is guy is dope!
It would be better if the Digitakt had 12 audio tracks and just 4 midi tracks.
Fook!!! that is a powerful little beast!!
and how is the op-1 connected to the digitakt? just usb to usb?

ok after this i can only say 'shut up and take my money'! ****AWESOME MACHINE*****
Der Klang der Geräte ist absolut top. Aber die Bedienung nicht. Daher werde ich mir wohl nie ein Elektron zulegen. So klasse der AnalogRym auch ist.
Baller! Got that Abyss
so jealous of that Abyss
Wizardry!
GAS! me gotz it now..
My setup digitone keys>syntakt x3 pioneer as1
👍👍👍👍
